This striking ash tree grows in a hedgerow near my house. The tree is the remnant of the old laid hedgerow. The tree speaks of the changing agricultural policies over the decades. Farmers have been encouraged to let their hedgerows grow taller to provide more habitat and you clearly see where the farmers flail has cut higher over time.
