from £75.00

After a bout of strong winds in my village, I often find the lanes scattered with twigs adorned in the delicate beauty of lichen. It's as simple as stepping into the lane by my house to encounter these captivating organisms.

This particular specimen, a true natural wonder, had been dislodged from the majestic oak tree in my garden.

The original was drawn in Froxfield By Nick McMillen in 2021.

  • Unframed, A limited edition fine art print

  • Edition of 100 x A2 and 100 x A3

  • Printed on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag 308 acid free paper, using archival quality inks.

  • Signed and dated by the artist with a Certificate of Authenticity

  • Dimensions
    A2 - 42 x 59.4 cms
    A3 - 29.7 x 42 cms

More Information

  • Lichens, a mesmerising union of two life forms—fungus and algae, have intricately woven a symbiotic relationship. Fungi, lacking the ability to produce chlorophyll, cannot harness solar energy like plants do. In a remarkable partnership, algae, adept at photosynthesis, have forged an alliance with fungi.

Fungi provide essential nutrients to the algae, and in return, the algae gain protection from harmful ultraviolet light thanks to the fungi's ingenious structure. It's a dynamic where fungi assume the dominant role, essentially "farming" the algae to produce the nourishment they need.

  • Professionally printed on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag 308 acid free paper, using archival quality inks lightfast upto 150 years.

  • All fine art prints are shipped rolled in strong cardboard tubes.

Track and Sign Postal Services are used for all UK, USA and International destinations.
